Go for lilac!

The first Outfit of the year. Well not the first I wore, cause I haven’t been walking around nacked for the last 18 days, but the first on the blog. I know my blogs still suffers under the fact that I am a working girl now, just like I feel some parts of my life have been utterly out of control for the last three month due to not having any time for things! But, well, it still was an awesome and I do love my internship.

The sweater was a lucky grab at C&A Clockhouse, they also have black velvet leggings at the moment, that I bought, but I am still not sure how to style them...

Sweater - C&A
Shirt - H&M
Tights - Ulla Popken
Shoes - Converse

As you might noticed, my hair is back to bright rainbow. Only now I really noticed how much I missed it, I am feeling much better now with my hair and it makes the time of still deciding if I want to go longer or shorter again a lot better.
Have a lovely weekend, cupcakes.

Inner Beauty? Outer Beauty?

I saw the above video today, it’s from some the show „Britain’s got talent“ and even if it is nice and in some ways inspirational, but it is also a perfect example for how deeply everyone is into fat shaming, without even thinking about it.

The boy, obviously fat, pretty shy and not in anyway aware of his own worth comes on stage with his best friend and everyone including the judged start to whisper. People actually are standing up to get a better look, like some kind of odd monster with three heads (sorry monsters, you are not odd, every body is a good body and so is your three headed one!) just came in sight. It’s not hard to see that noone thinks this is going to end well. But it does, the boy is very gifted and skilled, has an amazing voice and just sounds breathtaking singing some opera (I think) together with his friend. Everyone cheers, they stand up and clap, they get to the next round and everyone is happy.
Everyone? Well, I am not. Of cause love that how it went for him, but I am not angry or the plot of the video, I am angry at the message it transfers: Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, everyone can be beautiful on the inside!
Why would I be angry at a message like this? Well, because of some simple facts. Yes I agree don’t ever judge a book by it’s cover, in general no meter if it is about people’s looks, their clothes, their body or anything else you just see on the outside. But, and that is a really big but, you should not just do it because their might be something beautiful hidden inside, but because you fucking shouldn’t do it. It’s as simple as that. What if that boy in the video would have made an utter fool of himself with a fidicoulouse dance or not being able to sing at all? Then it would have been okay to judge him, to make fun of him. Because I would bed my favorite skirt that he wouldn’t have been as gifted as he is, all the paper and blogs and onlineplattform would have made fun of him not only because a bad performance but because of his looks.

The thing that I am trying to say is it is okay to be fat and not compensate it with some mayor talent of yours. It’s also okay to be "ugly as hell“ (I am putting this in „“ because I think beauty is a construct that is different for everyone of us) and you don’t need to have some kind go magical gift, some super talent, a pretty face, a magnificent voice, a great sense of fashion or some other impressive skill to make people look away from the fact that you are fat. It’s great if you do so. It’s great if you show your talent, your passion, your love to the world, if you show that also fat people can sing and dance and draw and be smart or sporty or a genius. But we have to stop thinking that judging a book by it’s cover is just a bad think, because their might be a beautiful story hidden inside. (I am pretty sure that there actually is a beautiful story hidden inside every single one of you) but even if there isn’t, if the book is just boring or empty or disastrous, still no one has the right to judge it by how it might look from the outside.

I am really not saying a video like this is bad, but I am pretty sure that most of the people in the audience and also the judges would have taken their change at making a fool out of that brave boy if he didn’t had that impressive voice. And that folks is what I call fatshaming. They not only assume after a first glance on his bodyweight that you can’t really expect something great from a fat person, but they also think it is okay to make fun of someone fat, if there isn’t something „good“ or „beautiful“ inside of the person to upgrade his/her worth, which, in the eyes of most people, is already below „normal human worth“ just because of the body fat.

Wirklich?

2013 Recap Part II

When I though about writing my recap of 2013 all I could think of was how easy it is to fall into the thought of how awful the last year was, how nothing happened at all and how I did not accomplish anything. But certainly this isn't true at all. Of cause, at first I though about how in the first 10 month I did nothing but hanging around all day on tumblr, got one rejection for applications after another. But quickly I realized that I was more then just a bit wrong.

London, Hamburg, Regensburg, Berlin, Cologne and Düsseldorf not forgetting Münster. So many cities I went in 2013. I got visitors and was a visitor, I had a lovely chat over a cocktail with Maite Kelly, I got my Make-Up done from the awesome Sina Velka, I took a picture with Casper, had a pillow fight in nightwear infront of the Cologne Dom and was being photographed in underwear. I stood at North Gower street and watched the black door in awe, I gave ma heart to a fandom and a british actor and I recovered how much a enjoy being a fangirl.
Apart from a really exciting year blog wise, with lots of awesome events and great opportunities, one of the best things was meeting so many people. I met the girls behind some of my favourit blogs and let most of them deep into my heart. I met a bunch of abnorsome beings that shared the most crazy week in the middle of August with me. I made friends all over the world and I feel more valued and loved then ever before.

During the year I learned an awful lot about myself, about feminism, and equality. My perspective on things shifted and I think I made a few big steps for myself. I got more angry at the world but also more calm with myself, I cried a lot and I laughed a lot. I let friends go and missed them massively, well I still miss them, but I also learned I am much better at being alone then I thought.
Something I am really proud of is that despite all doubt I finally believe in my own talents. After almost a year of not feeling like I am good at anything I am back at at least knowing there are things I am good at, even though I can improve everywhere and still have a long way to go.

2013 actually was great. It was filled with joy and love, with good food and making lots of friends, with terrific times with old friends and lovely family time. I want to say thank you for always supporting me, no metter if it's a nice comment, a sweet tweet, a message on What's app or a real life hug, I appreciate it so much every single time and I wish I could hug you all back.

If there is anything I want to have more of next year, it's taking risks. It might also be devouring passion, a bit of romance and a sunny summer holiday.

PS: Happy New Year...or how we like to say it HAPPY FUCKING SEASON 3 DAY!
